We have investigated a generation process of a new radiation belt during super-storms, which occurred in the last decade. Results demonstrates that new radiation belt was formed in the slot region (at L values between 2 and 3) due to the large SC and (or) AE spikes. Immediately after the SC on March 1991, highly energetic electrons were enhanced deep in the inner magnetosphere, forming a new radiation belt with a peak around L = 2.6. There was a substantial AE spike late of the storm main phase (e.g. AE reached 2300 nT) and the new radiation belt further moved to L = 2.2. In the case of Bastille day storm in July 2000, there were prolonged large magnetic activities late of the storm main phase (e.g. AE reached 2500 nT twice) and a new radiation belt was made around L = 2.6. The former belt (March 1991) persisted for almost one year, while the later one (July 2000) persisted as long as two weeks. This is due to the difference of loss rate at each position. In both cases, the intensity of highly energetic electrons around the new radiation peak was increasing over 2 days, which demonstrates that strong heating processes took place in the new radiation belt. A possible scenario with regards to acceleration of energetic electrons by means of waves will be given based on the Akebono observations together with a theory.
