The present work describes a new and simple method of studying the error of telescopic sights. The nonlinearity of displacement of the mark at which the sight under investigation is aimed is measured simultaneously and under identical conditions with a standard instrument designed for controlling linearity with a telescopic sight. The difference between the results obtained determines the error of the telescopic sight being checked. Advantages of the method over traditional techniques are pointed out.
