Pressure broadening and shift measurements are presented for transitions of the nu sub 2 = 1s-0a band, the nu sub 2 = 2s-1a band and the 1a(nu sub 4)-1a(nu sub 2) band ammonia lines. The measurements were made with diode-laser spectroscopy. The results are compared with those obtained using the Anderson (1949)-Tsao-Curnutte (1962) approximation, showing satisfactory agreement. Problems associated with incomplete knowledge of vibrational-transition dipole moments are examined.
