The properties of the neutralino as a candidate to provide the dark
matter in the Universe are discussed taking into account the present
experimental strategies for detecting WIMPs. The latest constraints
coming from accelerator physics are taken into account, included the
recent measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
