We present near-simultaneous observations of magnetic flux ropes in the tail of the Earth's magnetosphere on 7 August 2004 at 2312 UT made by the Cluster and Double Star TC-1 spacecraft. The spacecraft, located at (- 16.3, -8.7, 0.10)RE GSM and (-10.3, -7.11, 0.81)RE GSM respectively, were separated by 6.3RE. The observations are interpreted as two separate flux ropes existing in the tail simultaneously, to the best our our knowledge these are the first such observations. Minimum variance analysis is used to determine the orientations of the flux ropes, both of which lie approximately in the plane of the tail current sheet, itself orientated differently at the locations of the different spacecraft. The formation region of these flux ropes is inferred to be inside the orbit of Cluster.
