We use large N-body simulations to follow the nonlinear gravitational clustering of millions of mass points representing collisionless clouds of cold dark matter (CDM) in a critically-closed universe (Ω=1). Simulated catalogs of galaxies are statistically compared with observations of spatial and velocity correlations. We show that the CDM model, normalized on large scales using recent COBE data, predicts excessive small-scale velocities; and we discuss possible modifications to the model that may help reduce this problem.
