The pulse rise times from 10 to 70 percent of full amplitude (T70) of the response of three 10-sq-m liquid scintillators in the infilled section of the water Cerenkov detector array at Haverah Park to EAS muons are determined experimentally with accuracy about 1 nsec. The vertical muon threshold energies of the detectors are given as 420, 489, and 318 MeV, with a density dynamic range of 15-100 muons/10 sq m. Five pulse types are observed; the variation of T70 with EAS core distance and zenith angle is plotted for types 1 and 2 and analyzed statistically; and the type 3, 4, and 5 profiles are characterized. The mean T70 values from the statistical analysis are found to be in agreement with those of Blake et al. (1982) but significantly faster than those predicted by theoretical models, even with Fe primaries.
