Multipoint Cluster wave data are used to study the fine features of Chorus waves observed within the radiation belts. The Cluster EFW instrument samples the spacecraft potential with high time resolution. Knowledge of the spacecraft potential provides information about the plasma density. This ability of EFW to provide high sampling rate measurements of the plasma density is exploited in the present paper. It is shown that in a significant number of cases observations of chorus waves are associated with fine structures in the plasma density. It is argued that ducted propagation of chorus can explain such observations.
