We present the results of a new photoionization model, designed for simulating the spectra of the NLR of galaxies hosting an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN). The validity of the model is verified reproducing the line ratios measured in the spectra of a sample of 1344 nearby (z<0.1) AGN of class 2, Seyfert 2 galaxies, extracted from the SDSS, and comparing them with the results obtained using different models proposed by other authors in literature. The reliability of the proposed model is discussed.
