Experimental results are presented on multicore events in extensive air showers detected by a system consisting of 400 liquid scintillation counters with a total area of 200 sq m. The instrumentation and the method for determining the transverse momenta are described. Subcores in the multicore showers are interpreted as electron-photon cascades initiated by streams of hadrons with large transverse momenta
