We present a fully automatic classifier of galaxy morphology which is 'objective', but still able to mimic the visual classifications. With respect to the last ones, the automatic estimates turn out to be unbiased, irrespective of image quality and galaxy size, with scatter similar to the typical uncertainty of the visual classifications themselves. In particular, our classifier is capable of distinguishing between elliptical and lenticular galaxies, as well as between early- and late-type spirals. The MORPHOT tool is ideal for application to large samples of galaxies in wide and/or deep fields. In fact, it has been already used to classify ˜30.000 galaxies of the WINGS survey (Fasano et al. 2006).
