We analyze field measurements and high-quality image (20 cm/px) and
topographic (50 cm/px) data of alluvial fans in Svalbard, an arcic polar
desert, as analogues for martian fans. Remotely-sensed morphometric data
alone are insufficient for unambiguous interpretations.
