This dissertation reviews the physics and observation history of the highest energy cosmic rays. The bulk of discussion centers on modeling the interaction of Ultra High Energy Cosmic rays with targets in the galactic center. Also discussed is the potential interaction of supersymmetric Q-balls with the Earth. The results indicate that, in the absence of a GZK cutoff, ultra high energy cosmic ray interactions in the galactic center will produce an observable excess of photons in the direction of the galactic center. In addition, an independent upper limit is set for the abundance of supersymmetric Q-balls.
