Geodesics around black hole binaries may provide insight into the dynamics of accreting matter. Results from a simple geodesic particle model of accretion disks are presented. Under certain conditions, particle collision energies are markedly increased during the final merger phase of binary coalescence. This suggests that the actual matter dynamics may generate an electromagnetic signature of the black hole merger. The coalescence of the central supermassive black hole cores of two galaxies could lead to such a merger, in which case an electromagnetic correlate of the gravitational radiation to be observed by LISA might be expected.
