A small-scale time expansion is used to obtain an analytical solution to the balance equation for electron density in the D-region for pulsed and periodic variations of ion production rate under the effect of precipitating fluxes of high-energy particles. The space-time structure of the resulting ionospheric disturbances is calculated on the basis of the proposed model.
