Chemical analyses were carried out on minerals in undeformed Proterozoic staurolite-garnet schist, shock-metamorphosed staurolite-garnet schist, tagamite and suevite in the Lake Jänisjärvi impact crater. The tagamite and suevite have undergone high pressures and temperatures and associated re-crystallization. Minor geochemical differences were noted between the biotite, garnet and staurolite of the unshocked schists and those of their counterparts in the shocked samples.
