Recent spectroscopic observations of Herbig Ae/Be stars have revealed MIR emission features due to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from their circumstellar disks. Such PAH molecules are also thought to be responsible for the microwave emission attributed to spinning dust and as such have been theoretically demonstrated to dominate the radio spectra of circumstellar disks at cm/mm-wave frequencies. Unlike the MIR emission line features, which are dependent on incident UV flux and are therefore produced only in the outermost layers of the disk where they are exposed to radiation from the central star, the microwave emission is a function of the integrated column density of PAH molecules and can therefore provide a measure of the total PAH content of the disk. If the PAH population is present throughout the disk this will have a profound effect on theories of both disk and proto-planetary formation. We propose to observe a sample of 10 Herbig Ae/Be stars with known MIR PAH emission features in order to establish whether a cm-wave excess is measurable, and to establish if it is dependent on the specific PAH chemistry of the disk.
