We present the ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) spectral analysis of a two-layered magnetic flux tube with model parameters which represent a typical coronal loop surrounded by the ambient corona. Alfven surface modes concentrated at the loop - corona interface are not expected to appear due to the absence of a gap between the two branches of the Alfven continuum. Fast magnetosonic modes are found, corresponding to oscillations of the order of a few seconds.
