Interplanetary Magnetic Field: Magnetohydrodynamics

Scientific paper

The dynamics of MHD fluctuations of the magnetic field for frequencies less than 10-2 Hz in a spatial region ≡0.5 AU in size behind the front of quasiperpendicular (February 2, 1982) and quasiparallel (February 7, 1982) shock waves is studied using measurements made on the Venera-13 and 14 space probes. The basic types of fluctuations characteristic for large-scale structures of plasma flow in a shock layer and estimates of the spectral power density of the fluctuations are given.
