Scientific paper

The paper deals with magnetoacoustic wave package envelope solitons
propagating in the plasma layer of the magnetospheric tail. Specifically
examined is the case where wave propagation is almost transverse to the
external magnetic field. The dispersion and nonlinearity mechanisms
which lead to soliton formation are identified.
