A triangulation method for calculating the coordinates of asteroids is presented. Results of this method are compared with those achieved with Turner method. The method, which requires three reference stars, does not require knowledge of the center surface coordinates. It is shown that: (1) the Turner and triangulation methods are equal in accuracy, (2) the differences observed are within the accuracy range of instruments employed, and (3) unfavorable positioning of the reference stars generally results in less accurate results. Further, it is concluded that it is possible with amateur means to achieve accurate results.
