The probability method of dividing meteors is proposed to describe the behavior of a number of fixed meteors as a combination of sporadic and stream meteors. The method considers the inconsistency of the activity of the sporadic meteors, and the application of the method enables a general differential equation of fluctuations of the number of observed meteors to be obtained in recurrent form with respect to the initial moments. The equation is applied to the problem of separating stream meteors from the observed number of fixed meteors in the period of Leonids activity, showing good results. The equation may be applied to other statistical problems of meteor astronomy.
