The contribution of axial meson-exchange current effects to the Gamow-Teller matrix element in triton β-decay is calculated. Using a realistic wave function and the exchange operator derived from a hard-pion lagrangian model, we achieve a reasonable agreement with experiment. Our calculations show that the main part of the exchange-current contribution is in fact given by the low-energy theorem.
