The fully conformal invariant theory of de Alfano et al. (1979 and 1980) describing the interaction between gravitational non-Abelian gauge and neutral scalar fields is investigated analytically. A meron solution is obtained and shown to correspond to an Einstein static universe with finite action and energy, and a generalized solution which also conforms to such a universe is derived. It is suggested on the basis of the stability argument of Freedman and Gibbons (1984) that the probably supersymmetric solution for gamma = 1 is stable.
