It is well known that magnetic energy serves as a main source for solar flares, but no unanimous conclusion has been drwan on the energy release mechanism. The authors conclude that the fast energy release of a force-free field triggered by anomalous resistive dissipation of a high current layer might be a possible mechanism for energy release in solar flares.
