Mirrors: Support Systems
Scientific paper
The Japanese National Large Telescope (JNLT) will introduce 7.5 m thin meniscus mirror to the primary mirror, which is one of the major design features of JNLT. The biggest difficulty associated with the high image quality of the large flexible mirror is found in its suport system. The study of the required force accuracy in the JNLT system consists of two major analysis, the analysis of primary mirror deformation with the finite element method due to the force error of force actuators and the analysis of point spread function of the primary mirror under the aberration produced by its deformation. The procedure of these two analysis and their results are presented.
