Precise measurement of the lifetimes of the three charmed mesons D neutral, D plus and D (sub s) plus provides an interesting test ground for interplay between weak and strong interactions and for the various models that attempt to describe it. The final results of the NA-32 experiment on these meson masses and lifetimes are reported, using very clean samples of the mesons detected with the help of a high resolution vertex telescope, composed of silicon microship detectors and charge coupled devices. The experiment is described and an analysis of the data is given. Results and conclusions are presented.
