The paper proposes a method for retrieving the inertial-frame magnetic field components measured by a vector magnetometer on a spacecraft that rotates at an angular velocity that is not known in advance. The available magnetometer data are used to precisely estimate the angular velocity of the spacecraft; this estimate, combined with knowledge of the spacecraft's initial orientation, makes it possible to determine the components of the external magnetic field in an inertial frame. The proposed method is applied to the analysis of Phobos-2 magnetic field measurements in the vicinity of Mars.
