We present the results of the measurements of hot electron and ion plasma at the geostationary orbit. This experiment has been made in the course of the Russian space environment monitoring program {1}. Electrons and ions of the 0.1-12.5 keV energies were measured aboard the GORIZONT-91/2 satellite (longitude - 80E) in 1992-1994 with use of the spectrometer developed at the INP. The proceeded data analysis includes a fitting of the measured spectra with a 2-Maxwellian distribution function. This allows to distinguish two effects: the occasional substorm variations and the regular variations, which relevant to the motion of the solar-cell batteries (they periodically cross the detectors' sensitive cones). These former variations have being observed twice a day at about 0600LT and 1800LT. Each variation consists of both the short-term decrease and the more prolonged (only for low energies) enhancement in the flux intensity. Three-dimensional distribution of the electric potential near the spacecraft has been computed to give a quantitative explanation of this effect. The trajectories of moving electrons and ions for the variety of energies were computed and plotted as well. The computer code COULOMB, developed at the INP {2}, was applied for this purpose. The analysis shows that the discussed changes in the measured spectra are probably caused by the impact of the spacecraft's own electric potential to the motion of both the primary plasma particles and the secondary particles flying from the surface of the satellite.
