Cross sections for the astrophysical-important ^44Ti(α,p)^47V reaction were measured in the range 5.7 MeV <= E_c.m. <= 9 MeV. The measurements were carried out using a beam of radioactive ^44Ti. Nuclei of ^44Ti were produced by bombarding a Scandium sample with a proton beam at Argonne's IPNS. After a chemical treatment to separate Ti from Sc, ^44Ti ions were accelerated by Argonne's ATLAS to bombard a He gas cell. Intensities of ~ 5×10^5 ^44Ti/s on target were observed. Reaction products and beam-like particles were separated using the Fragment Mass Analyzer. The deduced stellar reaction rates are higher than expectations from standard theoretical calculations.
