The procedure of restoration, in the presence of noise, of one-dimensional star image data is carried out using Frieden's (1983) algorithm and making the algorithm iterative. It is shown that the iterations have a marked effect on the mean square restoration error when the a priori information in terms of the biases Q(i) is taken to be that of a uniform grey object; when the Q(i) is assumed to be proportional to the image data, the iterations do not improve the restoration.
