MAXI/GSC detected a bright X-ray burst from 1A 1246-588 at UT 2011/07/07 08:02:56. The burst lasted at least 66s. The peak flux was estimated to be 3.4 Crab (4-10 keV). At the time of the next transit (~20 min after the burst), the source flux had already decayed to the normal level. Its one-day average flux was 4+/- 3mCrab before the burst, and stayed at 5+/- 3 mCrab after it. These values are consistent with the 23 months average flux of 6 mCrab.
