Scientific paper

Theories of infinite and finite self-gravitating thin galactic disks
recently developed by N. Sibgatullin et al within the classical
Newtonian framework are reviewed. Special emphasis is made on showing
the interrelation existing between the mathematical descriptions of the
two types of disks.
