We propose to map the prominent ridge of molecular gas south of 30 Doradus in the Large Magellanic Cloud with the new Mopra observing system (MOPS + MMIC). The proposed 12CO observations are crucial for attaining uniform map sensitivity across the LMC and rejecting scanning artifacts in our existing map of the ridge. These issues currently limit the accuracy of our cloud flux and size measurements in this region and have thus far prevented the construction of a reliable cloud catalogue across the entire MAGMA LMC survey area. With MOPS, we will simultaneously record data from other molecular emission lines, with which we will investigate line ratios, optical depths, fractional abundances, densities, temperatures, and tracers of shocks and photon-dominated regions in the molecular ridge.
