Deep magnetovariational soundings have been carried out using data from the geomagnetic observatory net and the MAGSAT satellite. Complex apparent resistivities have been estimated from satellite data by two independent methods. The joint results have been interpreted assuming spherical symmetry of the Earth's layers. The global estimation of the electrical structure of the Earth's mantle has confirmed the existence of a layer with high conductance at a depth of approximately 600-700 km. The nature and possible causes of this layer are discussed.
