The problem of finding 'eigenwaves' whose transverse structure is determined by irregularity geometry and does not change in the case of reflection is formulated and solved for models of the horizontally irregular ionosphere in the form of a half-plane, a circle, and a strip. This approach is used to obtain a qualitative interpretation of the quasi-static magnetospheric Alfven resonance.
