The paper suggests that magnetic measurements, similar to those employed in geophysics, may yield results which are of astronomical significance. It has been argued recently that the low frequency direct mode of radiation of pulsars is detectable in the vicinity of Earth. The expected phenomenon is characterized by its low frequency. As a result, it should be possible to detect the radiation by employing magnetometric techniques. The paper reviews various possible magnetometric methods. Attention is paid to the electronics associated with the suggested measurements. The proper location of bases for magnetotelescopical observatories is also discussed.
