The nonlinear dynamics of magnetic reconnection in broadband turbulence is investigated through direct numerical simulations of decaying, compressible and incompressible, two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Complex processes of reconnection between magnetic islands (or magnetic vortices), of different size and field strengths, locally occur. Matching classical turbulence analysis with the Sweet-Parker theory, the main statistical features of these multi-scale reconnection events are identified. Locally, magnetic reconnection can be described through a steady state, asymmetric, Sweet-Parker model, in which parameters controlling reconnection rate are determined by the turbulence.
