Observations in the out-of-ecliptic heliosphere had not been available before the Ulysses mission. Understanding the 3-dimensional structures and properties of the medium is important to model successfully those processes, such as the propagation and modulation of cosmic rays, which are expected to depend on heliolatitude. In this paper, magnetic field observations made onboard the Ulysses spacecraft over a range of heliolatitudes from near the ecliptic plane to the southern polar regions of the Sun are presented and discussed.
