Magnetic draping is an important element of the Priming/GMIR theory for the 2-3 kHz outer heliospheric radiation observed by the Voyager spacecraft. More detailed consideration of draping leads to the qualitative prediction that the source region should be a linear band on the sky that includes the direction to the heliopause nose and is aligned with the magnetic field B. This is consistent with the observed source locus, supporting the theory and suggesting that the plane-of-sky component of B in the outer heliosheath is parallel to the galactic plane.
