The use of the magnetic bubble domain in computer memory, data-flow computers, and magnetooptic display devices is discussed. Problems posed by the use of magnetic bubble domain memories in the fields of computers and magnetooptics are examined, including the preparation of bubble materials, such as single crystals and amorphous metal films; the design of bubble propagation tracks; bubble dynamics, i.e., bubble generation, detection, replication, and transfer; and theoretical problems arising in the field of magnetooptics.
