A series of dynamical computations of arcade evolution using a variety of initial, boundary, and driving conditions as well as Reynolds numbers is presented. Laterally restricted arcades, freely expanding arcades, and arcades carrying a current filament are considered. A quasi-self-similar stable behavior is obtained in all cases. The evolution of configurations containing several interacting arcades is examined. In the case of a laterally restricted pair of arcades, resistive instability and plasmoid upward ejection occur under rather general conditions. In the more relevant case of a group of arcades restricted only by their mutual interaction, noneruptive plasmoid formation seems to occur quite generally in each arcade, corresponding to the transition to a bifurcated equilibrium. The evolution, however, remains slow. Only for sufficiently complex configuration containing at least three arcades is eruptive plasmoid formation observed.
