A mode of motion in soil with the use of an impulse (impact) propulsor and tractive power assessments of the motion process are discussed; generalized relations are shown which allow to assess some structural parameters; the data of experimental tests are given. Various schemes for using the machines to move in soil are discussed, including the machines used in the scientific set of the Marsokhod according to the Mars 96 design.
