With the aim of characterizing the physics of Lyman alpha (Lya) escape from galaxies, we have undertaken a major effort to followup a well-defined sample of GALEX-selected z 0.3 Lya emitters. Here, we present results based on new FUV COS-G160M spectroscopy of 25 GALEX star-forming Lya emitters. We present resolved Lya profiles and compare the results with resolved profiles obtained from galaxies in the distant universe.
