Theoretical and observational studies are suggesting that long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) occur in low-metal environment. Lyman-alpha (Lyα) equivalent width is a feature of galaxies that is closely connected to the metal abundance of the galaxies, hence Lyα emission lines of the host galaxies can provide us an important clue to the metallicity dependence of long GRB production. Optical follow up observations of high redshift (z>2) long GRBs suggest that almost all of detected host galaxies have strong Lyα emission line, while the fraction of galaxies with a strong Lyα emission line in Lyman-break galaxies (LBGs) at similar redshift is about 25%. Combining models of galaxy formation and metal dependent long GRB production, we predict statistical properties of Lyα emission of long GRB host galaxies at high redshift. The properties of host galaxies which we predict assuming that long GRBs occur preferentially in low-metal environment reproduce observations, while predictions with metal independent GRB production model are inconsistent with observations. Though current sample of observed long GRB host galaxy at high redshift is small and the constraint is not strict yet, our results shows that the fraction of GRBs which take place in Lyα emitting galaxies can be used as a observational tool to know the metallicity dependence.
