Optimal magnetic anomaly mapping techniques using Apollo subsatellite magnetometer data were determined. These techniques were applied to extend the selenographic coverage of existing maps. Model fitting procedures for inferring bulk magnetization properties of major anomaly sources were developed. Numerical modeling of previously mapped large anomaly fields on the lunar far side were carried out using an iterative forward modeling procedure. The major anomaly source locations and limits on the bulk directions of magnetization of individual sources were determined.
