The color range 0m.85 < B-V < 1m.10 lies in the area of maximum concentration of evolved stars, so it is very difficult to identify low-proper-motion dwarfs of the same color. This paper discusses problems of differentiating between the spectral characteristics of subgiants and dwarfs in this color range. Implications for catalogues of nearby G and K dwarfs are analysed.
