We investigate a fraction of low ionization state plasma for several CME events observed by SOHO/UVCS. The UVCS obtains UV spectra of plasma in various ionization states. CME plasmas are often detected in O VI (3x105K), C III (7x104K), and Lyα (< 7x104K). This allows a study for the distributions of CME plasma in different temperatures. Previous study shows that the lower temperature CME materials observed in C III are located in the innermost part of the CME in a reconstructed 3-dimensional structure. Earlier in situ observations by SWICS/ACE have shown mostly high ionization state plasmas in CME events, which implies that most CME plasmas are heated during their expansion in solar corona. We present the area and volume fractions of various ionization states CME plasmas including a comparison with the observations by SOHO/LASCO and SOHO/EIT. This study will determine whether the difference between the low ionization seen by UVCS and the high ionization seen by SWICS/ACE results from a small filling factor of cool plasma or from heating of CME material as it expands through solar corona.
