We propose to obtain EPIC spectra and lightcurves of a sample of 8 young magnetic early type stars, four of which were previously detected as X-ray sources by ROSAT, and all of which are known to be characterised as non-thermal radio sources. An additional two sources will be used as control subjects since these are known to be older A-type stars. Together, this sample provides a range of B fields, rotation periods, age and radio fluxes that allow will help us to relate the detected X-ray flux and/or spectrum to the underlying physical properties of the confined magnetospheric plasma.
