An analysis has been carried out on digital seismograms collected by the National Telemetered Network for earthquake sequences occurring in Central Italy during April-May 1984. Comparison of seismograms has shown that events can conveniently be considered in groups having similar wave forms. Inside such groups, data referring to pairs of events recorded by the same station have rather high correlation coefficients.
Using techniques based on cross-correlation, we have estimated small time-delays between first arrivals for pairs of events and obtained a relative location for such events. The preliminary results show that events belonging to the same group of wave forms are generally located close together.
